I have been painting up a storm. Not always a good storm, but I’ve worked out a few problems. The top paintings are of a pear. It shows what a difference a background makes. I love that blue background on the first. It is the color that I painted my laundry room. The painting of the pear half I found to be very difficult. I just couldn’t get the right colors for the meat of the pear. They were both still fun to paint. The peony is one that I purchased from A Date with Iris (great flowers and art; you should visit). I love peonies, but I do find them challenging to paint. I love how the blue background came out on this one.
Okay, so now to my weakness. I have many, starting with chocolate, but by far my greatest is MANGO. I am very allergic to this oh so very delicious treat, but I have learned to take precautions so that I don’t break out. Still, as soon as they are in season, I am first in line to purchase some. So, right now this is my favorite painting. I hope you like it.
On top of painting and making jewelry, I’ve been sewing. It started with me needing a strap for my new camera. The one that came was hard, too thick and it scratched my neck. Then I thought, “It needs a matching bag”. So I made one. Then, I figured while I had the sewing machine out, I better make my nephew his camouflage with orange edge Scooby blanket. I am done sewing for now, except Ezri wants a little cotton kimono dress that she can were in the summer on top of tights or her swimsuit. So, we’ll go get fabric for that. I’ve have to show you later. Here are photos of my strap and my new toy, and the bag to match. I hope your summer is fantastic.

I think you did a great job on the pear and got the colors right :)

  2. I love the colors in that first painting. And the flower painting is lovely, too.

Labor of Love

Sunflowers in Cobalt Blue Vase,   Oil on 5 "x7"   Linen Panel SOLD  Private Collection in San Saba, TX First, I must say that everything I paint is because I absolutely love. I don't like to paint things that I don't find to be attractive to me for one reason or another. Sometimes it's sentimental reasons and other times it's as simple as beautiful colors or the texture. Either way, it's something that I want to capture and stare at for long periods of time. I want to study it and how it affects the environment around it, as in the case of Sunflowers in Cobalt Blue Vase does. In that respect, I feel ALL my paintings are a labor of love.  More often than not, I have to create a painting, wipe it all down, and start all over again if something is just not working. Some never get completed and I just end up painting something totally different on that panel. Then there are some, that I just have to paint, no matter how much trouble they are giving

The Apple Tree that Could

Peonies in Glass Vase,   Oil on 5 "x7"   Linen Panel SOLD Private Collection in Lebanon, IN  Green Apple,   Oil on 6 "x6"   Linen Panel S OLD Private Collection in  NewCanaan, CT    This little painting is of an apple from an apple tree on our property. I've been babying it for about four years now. To my surprise, last year it finally gave apples. However, after a couple of days of seeing the tree with lots of apples adorning its branches, I took my daughter to see the little miracle, but ALL the apples were gone. She looked at me as though I was trying to pull her leg. This year, the tree was filled with even more apples. I hope they mature well so that I may share with my neighbor that's been admiring it.  Still Life with Chanel,   Oil on 5 "x7"   Linen Panel S OLD Private Collection in Pacifica, CA
